Root 44 market, Audacia Wine Estate Stellenbosch

This market is situated on the R44 from Stellenbosch to Somerset-West (or vice versa) on Audacia Wine Farm. It is one of an array of markets in the area that stretches over the whole weekend.

Root44 Market

Salvador loves this market because firstly, it's pet friendly, except for when you want to go into the food tent. This is understandably due to the fact that there are dogs like his friend Henry, that has on occasion, stolen a rather gourmet looking pie off one of the food stall tables...

We also love it because there is plenty of seated space under shady trees; the craft beer is delicious and so are the brownies, spring rolls, freshly squeezed juices, to name but a few of the yummy things! You can also adopt some furry dog or cat friends from the rescue stall.

Salvador is till struggling to contain his excitement at this market due to all the friendly people wanting cuddle time and all the dog friends demanding attention, but a market is a good place to introduce your dog to new sights and sounds and getting him/her used to socializing with kids and dogs in general. It can be a daunting process for some, but be patient and consistent (even when commands are being disobeyed for the sake of some bum sniffing...) and reward with some treats that you can either buy from the lady at the entrance or from the biltong shop!

Loads of shaded seating

The market is on each Saturday-Sunday from 09;00-15:30. Visit their website here for more details on what's happening.

ENJOY!
